The Waco Hispanic Museum opened to the public in September 2016, and since then, it has been shining a light on the rich Hispanic history and contributions to the city of Waco. The museum was an idea from Alex Rodriguez, the Mayor Pro Tem at the time, and Louis Garcia, the Chairman of the Waco Hispanic Museum. City Council Woman Alice Rodriguez and Louis Garcia, now the museum’s director, founded the museum based on their idea. The idea was to acknowledge the long history of the Hispanic/Mexican Community of Waco, many of us whose families arrived in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The museum is a 501(c)3 organization that got its start as an idea in 2013. Since then, the museum has worked tirelessly to bring the history and culture of the Hispanic community to the forefront.

The museum’s mission is to highlight the contributions of the Hispanic community to the City of Waco and Central Texas.
